Trees, prayful hands, bowls, and eyes appear in nearly all of the works in Bruce M. Sherman's Earth/Heaven Heaven/Earth, his second solo exhibition with the gallery. These recurring motifs string together a narrative that, for the artist, may center the mind and senses toward prayer. In these works, Sherman constructs out of clay bridges between heaven and earth, utilizing forms that express at once groundedness and a reaching upwards toward higher energies.
